 The UT Permian Basin Information Resources Division (IRD) supports the University community in the following areas:

  • Provides computer hardware and software support for academic, administrative and library computing. 
  • Supports the campus Local Area Network (LAN), the connection between the campus LAN and the Internet, and data connections between numerous state agencies. 
  • Has responsibility for the operation of the REACH interactive video network. This network interconnects REACH partners into one virtual classroom using modern digital data and compressed digital video technologies. 
  • Manages and operates the University's telephone system and the associated voice mail system. 
  • Serves as a central clearing point for strategic planning, operational planning and information resource procurement
